Our client is looking for a Transport Planner to join a busy team on a 6 month contract basis starting ASAP.
Transport Planning Experience
This role is OUTSIDE IR35
The suitable candidate will assist with research and develop transport policy documents and strategies, engaging with a range of stakeholders through appropriate consultation.
Assist in responding to transport-related consultations initiated by Department for Transport, Local Enterprise Partnerships, District Councils, National Parks, rail industry, bus/ferry operators, ports/ airports or other bodies
Assist in prioritisation of schemes
Assist in development of Business Cases and preparation of funding bids to a variety of funding streams at a range of scales and complexities
Assist with development of transport improvements in accordance with government guidance from concept through to implementation as part of integrated transport capital programme, LTP area transport strategies, Town Access Plans, or other.
Assist in delivery of transport schemes through client and project management to achieve strategy objectives.
Assist in co-ordination and monitoring of scheme progress for scheme tracking
Monitor projects to achieve targets
Assist in provision of highway development control and planning advice
Preferred knowledge, skills and experience:
Operate at degree level. Qualification in transport planning or relevant discipline
Minimum of 2 years experience in a transport planning/policy field
Project management skills
Report writing skills
Sound IT/ computer skills with experience of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS Outlook, MS Access and GIS
Knowledge of and interest in current transport developments and policies.
Mainly office based in Winchester
Site visits if and when required (to live highways and construction sites)
Communicating feedback to the general public.
Ability to fulfil the travel requirements of the role.
