Process Engineer, 02/07/2012 – Present

Umgeni Water:

 Operated and managed a pilot filtration plant. Designed an alternate control system for the pilot plant.

 Compiled process specifications for a 1 MW Cogeneration plant at Darvill Wastewater Works

 Designed pilot scale drying beds for sludge treatment which were successfully implemented at 10 waterworks for the collection, analysis and classification of the sludge.

 Operated and commissioned a 4 Ml/day water treatment plant in the Eastern Cape.

 Designed a polyacrylamide dosing system for Clarifiers at Hazelmere WW

 Conducted investigation into high aluminium concentrations at rural plants in the North Coast.

 Designed an upgrade to the Head of works at Umzinto WW in the South Coast (12 Ml/day to 20 Ml/day). Including all dosing systems, pumps, instrumentation and a flocculation unit. (project cost > R40 million)

 Based at Wiggins Waterworks as support to the plant superintendent for a period of six months. Worked as acting plant superintendent in the absence of the plant superintendent.

 Project managed a project to review and update Engineering standards and specifications at Umgeni Water. This included compiling tender documents for the project.

 Undertook literature review and desktop study on available mechanical sludge dewatering equipment. Completed design of plant to test three technologies. I was also the project manager on this project, responsible for compiling tender documents and all other documentation. (Project cost = R40 million)
