Requirement — the services of an Industrial Designer
We are seeking to employ an industrial designer to join us as we continue to design and create across various enterprise brands as well as new and/or up-and-coming brands that wish to showcase their products and services within the retail channels and eventing. Brick & mortar is not going away soon and we need to evolve our designs and offerings with current trends and keep fresh ideas flowing.
As a designer your role would be to manage the client’s expectation as it relates to design, functionality and budget. You’d be expected to provide high quality 3D renders and full technical drawing packs for manufacturing. We’re looking for a designer that has a good track record and above average experience in the design of POP displays, fixtures and fittings and the like.
The “new normal” necessitates someone who can work not only at the office workspace, but who also needs to be able to work remotely — sometimes 60/40 & other times 40/60 split. We need someone who is adaptable to these ever-changing times.
Fluent in English as we deal with local and international contacts.
Must be able to produce technical designs that can be used by in-house production team and outsourced vendors/manufacturers
Have good/excellent technical understanding of 3D-design and be able to clearly and efficiently read other types of (2D/CAD/Renders) technical designs supplied by clients, vendors or any other outsourced links — decipher of designs is a CRITICAL prerequisite
Good analytical and communication skills are a MUST
Must be open to change and pivot when necessary if a brief changes or client work product requirements change
You need to be able to express 3D designs renders in an “easy” and well thought out manner for clients to grasp and understand the concept without requiring detailed explanations
Must be accurate in all aspects of design phases, especially technical design packs
Show creativity and “out-of-the-box” think mentality
Needs to be ever mindful of budget and other constraints as and when it may present itself
Be mindful of tight deadlines as we operate in a “fast-moving” environment
Be verbal and expressive but show humility
Must be emotionally intelligent to learn from criticism
Must take responsibility and be accountable for your work and at all times find solutions to failures
Must be a team player and do what is best to improve the outcomes for the whole team
KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:
Efficient and well versed in PRIMARY design programmes:
Rendering ability — Able to use rendering software such as Keyshot
Knowledge of and experience working in all related, or at least most other related design packages such as:
ADD-ON SKILLS THAT ARE ADVANTAGEOUS (Can be taught if necessary):
Be able to setup files for laser machines (Vector software experience)
Be able to operate a laser machine to produce Dev and/or final production samples
